AeroOne™ Newsletter

#28 October 2025

Dear Aeros:

The Newsletter usually focuses on business and business use of aircraft. After all, it's business that pays the bills. But it's not just about business. You deserve to have fun too. You can do both right when you have your own private jet.

We've had a hectic summer without any real vacation time. So last minute we decided to have a little fun, where fun can only be had---Las Vegas, Nevada. Saturday, September 13 we summoned the pilots and soon after we were winging it to Sin City for three night's stay at the Wynn.

From flight and crew logistics, onboard catering, ground transfers, hotel, dinner and show reservations, every detail was arranged by Jet Logistics. On five hours notice! Flawless service. After all, when you need fun you need it now, not days or weeks from now. And you need it to be....fun.

Direct service...

Feeling refreshed, it was off to Houston, Toronto and London for more biz before heading to Halifax for a 35th year class reunion. 5 cities, one week. Fun, business and fun again.

This is the AeroOne lifestyle. You've earned it. Are you ready?

Happy Flying

Cost per Hour: Charter vs Ownership (Light Jet, $500,000 initial purchase price)

*Assumptions:

  • Charter rate: $5,000/hr

  • Purchase price: $500,000

  • Management & fixed costs: $144,000/year

  • Direct operating cost (DOC): $2,800/hr

  • Depreciation: $50,000/year → $15,000/year net tax shield (30%)

Insights

Break-even shifts earlier: At ~50 hours/year, ownership already approaches parity with chartering ($5,380/hr vs $5,000/hr).

At 100 hours/year: Ownership is clearly cheaper ($4,090/hr vs $5,000/hr).

Above 150–200 hours: Ownership cost drops to ~$3,500/hr, a 30% discount compared to chartering.

The lower acquisition price accelerates ROI, making ownership economically compelling even for moderate usage levels.

✅ Conclusion:

With a $500,000 acquisition, ownership becomes competitive around 50 hours annually and strongly advantageous beyond 100 hours, while also delivering strategic intangibles (availability, branding, client confidence).
