AUGUST 2024

Dear Aeros:
If you're like me with loved ones who beg you to take them on a European extravaganza each summer, you know how annoying and stressful those trips can be.

Well, no more. This summer we are combining a business trip in the Learjet with true First Class service to Mykonos on Lufthansa. That's right, enjoy the best of both worlds--efficient private jet flying domestically combined with the sublime service of true First Class internationally--offered exclusively by a select few international carriers departing from airports such as SEA, SFO, LAX, ORD, JFK or MIA.

We will take my jet to TEB, head to a meeting in Midtown, after which a Lufthansa limousine will wisk us off to JFK where we will enjoy a pre-flight gourmet meal in their exclusive First Class lounge while a personal assistant checks us in and arranges security. Afterward we will be shuttled to our First Class seats aboard an A380 (there are only 8 First Class seats onboard) to Munich and then on to Mykonos for some fun in the fun. Upon return, will sign the papers in NY after the lawyers finish their work and then back home on the Learjet.

One final note. Yesterday, while riding the elevator to our 35th floor office suite I struck up a conversation with a very tired-looking businessman. Bill was just returning from Detroit on Delta. Only two days late! All of Delta's flights were grounded due to the cyber attack. Bill told me he flies constantly, spending more than $300,000.00 a year on plane tickets. He is now exploring jet ownership options with AeroOne and about to take his first ride with us!

Happy Flying,
Roger Proctor, CEO

REGULATORY WINDS OF CHANGE MAY THREATEN AIRLINE LOYALTY PROGRAMS

Opinion:

Over the past 30 years airlines have become addicted to loyalty rewards programs in order to fill their seats. Of the 32 to 48 business class seats typically available on each wide-body aircraft flown by North American carriers only 8 are usually filled by full-fare passengers. The rest get filled through discounted fares, loyalty reward upgrades and full-points passengers. In almost all cases the airlines have partnered with major credit companies to offer joint benefits.

Are you one of those top-tier road warriors who chooses a long-haul discounted ticket for that weekend down-time just so you can make next year's "Super Princess" status and skip to the front of the line for the umpteenth consecutive year? Admit it! You know who you are. I was also that person once upon a time.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the points hording days may soon be over, if a couple of US senators get their way. They want to rain on your high-flying, low paying parade.

Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Competition Act Threatens Airline Rewards Programs

Think about it, actually PAYING full price for stewed chicken thighs or mystery meat lasagna while trying to reset your television screen from your hard-cushioned lie-flat seat?

Up Next Month: What the Durbin-Marshall bill could mean for J (Business) class. (Any guesses? Write and give us your thoughts. info@aeroone.org)
